Functions: development and formulation of the strategic direction of the CCEMA (including, development, facilitation and oversight of the work program), implementation in consultation with the Advisory Group and the CCEMA Network, fund raising and external representation of the CCEMA. The Steering Committee meets at least twice a year. The Steering Committee chair will be elected by the Steering Committee members, from the ranks of that body.
Membership: Membership of the Steering Committee is designed to provide representation for all of the key constituencies concerned with CCEMA. It is conceived that at least one representative will be present from each of the following constituencies: migration, the environment, humanitarian, development, academic, inter-governmental and non-governmental. Initially, the Steering Committee will commence with partial membership, specifically UNEP, IOM, UNU, MRF, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), the University of Sussex and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) International, and add members by invitation.
